20" G5 iMac -vs- 24" Intel iMac

A few weeks ago we upgraded from a 20" 1.8 Ghz G5 iMac to a 24" 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. The new computer certianly has some upgrades, the largest of which is the beautiful 23.5, or so, inch screen, and as a BTO model, I ordered it up with 2Gig of RAM and the 7600GT video card with 256MB of RAM. So, how is it faring? I must say that Im a little disappointed.

The first issue I am having is a mild amout of darkness in the upper corners of the screen. I have reported this to my Apple dealer, and am waiting on a response a little over a week later.

My second gripe is that when replying to emails in the Apple Mail program, it frequently freezes up. I NEVER had a problem with this on any of my G5s.

My 3rd gripe is that when you wake the computer up from sleep mode, it seems to take much longer for it to recognize that it is on the home network.

Photoshop performance is pretty much the same, and Aperture performance is MUCH better. I'm waiting to see how Adobe CS3 fares, hopefully a lot better.

On a final note, this machine is QUIET!!!!!

Broch- What's up!! I'm hanging DESPERATELY onto my G4, I do NOT want to have to buy an Intel Mac. I've heard of a lot of problems, especially when using adobe products or trying to use active directory. Oh, and BTW you've been tagged- http://arcaderepair.blogspot.com/
