You too?

Ala the ever-so-creepy movie "Misery," I could walk up to the band U2, and say, "I'm your biggest fan!" Way back in '86, my license plates were "Broch U2"

I heard them for the first time in 1984, as a freshman in high school. I have followed them faithfully since, through the great music, and the not so great music. In my opinion, they are on an upswing right now. I saw them on their most recent tour, and can safely say that it was the best tour I have seen them on. I haven't missed a tour since The Unforgettable Fire, in either 84 or 85.. It HAS been awhile.

I'm generally a political moderate, a Libertarian, but despite believing that we are each responsible for our own destiny, Bono has always reminded me to stay grounded and remember that we truly are our brothers keeper, and that it does take a village to raise a child.

Bono has been in the news a lot in the past few years, especially as of late. It appears that he has come to a crossroads in his life, and that he has been feeling squeezed and perhaps over extended by his rock star commitments conflicting with his "Causes." Heck, don't your rock star commitments conflict with the other stuff going on in your life? Mine sure do! ha ha ha... A troubling quote was in an article I read, one I hope was taken far out of context. "They (the rest of the band) just don't like the high profile, and they don't like me hanging around with really uncool politicians." What I have to say to that is, "Bono, get a grip." The only cool factor that Paul Hewson(Bono), Dave Evans(The Edge), Adam Clayton, or Larry Mullen Jr. have, is that they are so completely uncool. They are immensely popular becase they aren't "Rock star cool," rather, people can relate to them and are made to feel that they are part of the performance, not just observers.

I sincerely hope that they aren't going to begin to take a holier than thou approach, that would wreck it for me.

I have an immense amount of respect for them not only for all the causes they bring to the forefront but because they haven't gone through that "Behind the Music" thing that always starts with, "Things were going great, until one day..."
There just another pop band. They cant rock.
