Can you believe this???
Think that all is well with Military Intelligence??? HA!!! What a joke!!! A really nice person sent me a little snippet of info that I thought I should pass on to you all... They are charging our wounded soldiers $8.10 for food consumed in the hospital during treatment and recovery... What kind of bullshit is that?????

yeah, so? doesn't the hospital need to be paid for services and goods it provided? when we had emily, we were charged for thousands of things, bills came to us, but insurance covered it; except for meals I had, but I wasn't the one in for delivery.
you can't just not charge and account for things in a business...regardless of whether it will be paid by insurance or written off.
Who is "they"? The hospital? If the gov't couldn't cover their asses in battle it should at least cover their meals....btw, is that $8.10 per meal or just total...?
8.10 a day. That is OUR government charging OUR soldiers. They feel that the soldiers are "Double dipping" into the food allowance. That is almost like saying that someone is willingly losing a limb just so they can get an extra eight bucks worth of food in one day. Grrr.
idiotic and so sad. that's so amazingly stupid.
is this a private/public hospital or a VA hospital?
kindly post some links on this.
This was on CNN, Ill see what I can find for ya...
My husband has been hospitalized twice for dehydration because of water rations in Tikrit. Well, it's not rationed for everyone...just the ones out in the heat who need it. "Go fight and risk your life for us!!! But we're not gonna feed you while you're there!!" Geez, I can buy an airline ticket, and my meal is free. You'd think their lives, separation from their families...you'd think that would be payment enough for food and water, but don't mind me. I'm just the spastic one living life never knowing if he's going to come home alive. Anyone that thinks they would understand being over there in that and paying for your food in the hospital, write your Congressman! I know a man that would GLADLY let you take his place so you can show him what a real soldier/American is!
we all talk lots of shit maybe we should research this issue top to bottom and start a grassroots campaign? What do you guys think???
i searched reuters and ap...nothing turned up on this. cnn or not, i don't hold this story with a lot of credibility yet.

Anyone wishing to find out more about this, take the above link....
ok, here's how i read this:
1) gi gets $8.10 per diem in their pay for food
2) gi, unfortunately gets hurt and is hospitalized for, say 10 days.
3) gi received, during that time $81 in per-diems for food.
4) during the 10 day stay, gi ate at the expense of his insurance company.
this $8.10 per diem is not part of their compensation, it's a cost abatement program the govt has to help offset basic costs to the enlisted. if they had simply increased the gi's pay by $2956.50/year I'd have a big problem with this; however, since it's a separate line item and not part of their normal compensation...i really don't have any issue here with their implementation.
aside from that, i think this is a stupid rule. note, that soldiers in combat get to keep the $8.10 even though they get to eat courtesy of the govt. i think if they're gonna bend the rules for 300,000, they ought to be able to bend them the other way for the few thousand that get hurt in any way shape or form.
looks like there's an outcry already underway, but it wouldn't hurt to call your congress person to make sure this moves along.
here's the technical details of the bill:
H.R.2998
looks like they're up to 177 co-sponsors already...from the 96 in the article.
Finally, Angel...thank you for your and your husband's scrifices; you both are highly appreciated, and yes, we should be doing better for the both of you.
whoops...the link to the bill didn't work.
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d108:12:./temp/~bdNcNl::
if that link doesn't work it's because house.gov does all their search results as temporary links so you can't actually link to anything on the site...lame lame, oh so lame.
Nose, thank you for the link and the explanation. Found the link very informative.
Also Angel, thank you and your husband for choosing to serve our country.
