Oops, I have been remiss.

SOUND ESCAPE PT. I

Sorry folks, I have been remiss in posting. I am trying to figure out where my life is heading. I have been zooming around in the new car, seeking adventure where I find it, or where it finds me. I road tripped it yesterday, and had a great day of relaxation.

The bug of hi-fi has bitten me square in the arse once again. This has been a disease that I have fought with my entire life. It began when I was a six year old. My parents gave me a turntable, a very high quality one that they were later offered fifteen hundred dollars for. Due to the enjoyment that they knew I derived from it, they declined the offer. That meant a lot to me, as my parents were not wealthy people in the least, and that amount of money would have been life changing for them, especially in the 70's. I enjoyed listening to my parents albums, everything from the Stylistics, Muddy Waters, Zeppelin, Nat King Cole to my moms own records. My mom is a professional musician, and her records are the ones that I cherish the most.

The fever kicked in once again in eigth grade. I just had to have one of the "High Fangled" Soundesign all-in-one systems. You know the ones, a turntable-radio-cassette deck. Ooooh, I was in heaven, for a day at least. The sound was horrible, nothing like my older turntable. That system lasted me until my freshman year of college. At that point I was introduced to the fact that many students cashed their student loan checks and went to the local hi-fi dealer, Appletree Stereo. I didn't get bitten by the bug very hard at that time, and settled on a Magnavox CD Player, a Vector Research integrated amp, and a pair of BSR Colossus speakers. If any of you remember the DAK catalog that used to come out in the mail, then you HAVE GOT to remember those speakers. They were the speakers that graced the cover for MANY issues. They had drivers on not only the face of the cabinet, but also the top. They were as big as Volkswagons......

More later.

I remember that! You whole family was eating romen noodles so I offered you mom and dad $1500.00 for the turntable because I didn’t want you to have to start selling blood, they said no to my offer because their Jedi powers told them you were going to be The grand uber DJ “Kid Extraordinary” at burning man one day. Riding around in an electric 1973 pinto playing mad cuts of the Dixie Chicks mixed with Boy George. Go white boy it’s your birthday!!! Whats this top secret project you working on? You didnt finally decide to go with the "big snip snip surgery did you? Where working out tomorrow at 6 if you want to join us. Silat, Muay-Thai and Gung Fu.
Ya got me crutch! You know what??? With your writing prowess, I think that you should have your own blog ;-) Actually folks, he does, and Ill link to it. He doesn't write anything NEARLY as interesting as he does here though. So, look at your booty! DYTMBIU???
1 salty tear
broch, you are so full of shit. your stereo was a kraco and you stole the speakers out of a volkswagon. your parents could really have used the money, because they had so much tied up in the be-my-friend payments they were making to us all.
can you feel the love....god i love this game its way better than basketball.
So fill us in on the road trips.....
Let's talk about what broch is famous for - driving fast and a kickin stereo! What do you mean, you had cheap stuff? You NEVER went cheap in the audiophile department, at least that's what you would always tell me about what you had installed in your car, hell, I'll even admit - I wouldn't know any better. (Along similar lines, I must elect Mr. Andrew's Oldsmobile, when Steve took it out, to be the smoothest ride, made even smoother when Mrs. Andrews came along w/us ;) The camero, though, if I remember right, you DIDN'T modify, correct? And your parents had plenty of money - they just didn't sell your turntable so you'd stay in the basement ;)
broch drove fast? where the hell were you? i don't count his 0-25 romps as driving fast. he'd kick your ass as long as you were dragracing on a "slow, dumb kids" signed street. Yeah, the olds was smoother than the lincoln; but the lincoln had personality...if by trying to kill me by lighting the battery afire, you call personality...
Oh, the envy. The radio in my car still doesn't work, and it's been YEARS. ;-p
ya know, i was totally happy with my little $1500 kenwood and jbl system, till i went and listend to a friends $20K audio system. shit. i hate my stereo. but i still luuuuuv my ipod.
Yeah Jim, all things i are wonderful. I just picked up the iSight, and think that it is about the best thing since sliced bread! iPod, iSight, iMac even, they all rock.
